Never thought I would be a crazy cat lady
I really never intended to be a crazy cat lady! This is how it started:
It was about 4:30 A.M., still dark, when my husband was off to work. He opened the front door to leave and stood there for a couple seconds and shut the door. I was in the kitchen when my husband said “Honey, you gotta come look at this”. I went to the front door and my husband opened it up again. What I thought I saw on the front porch were 3 rats. As I looked closer I realized it was 3 very small black kittens. They looked like they weren’t very healthy. They had gunk in their eyes and they were dirty with what looked like runny bowels. I knew I couldn’t bring them in to the house, since I had 3 healthy cats and didn’t want them getting sick from the kittens. We had a big dog house in the yard that closed in the front, so I grabbed a big pet bed that I had in the house and put it in the dog house and then put the three kittens in it. Since it was so early in the morning, I planned on calling my vet later to see if I could the kittens in to get checked out. By this time my husband really had to get on his way to work. As he started down the driveway, he yelled out to me,”Honey! I think there is another kitten in the bushes!”. My husband left and I went out to the driveway with a flashlight to find the kitten. I finally found him and then there were 4! When I finally got a hold of the vet, I couldn’t bring the kittens in to see her until the next day. I had to leave them, with food and water, until the next day (of course I checked on them all that day). The next morning (4:30 A.M.), my husband was the first one out to the doghouse to check on the kittens. He comes back in the house and says,”I know it’s dark, but I swear I counted 5 kittens!). Sure enough, one more had crawled into the window on the side of the doghouse, and then there were 5! I did take them all to the vet that day. They all got medication for their eyes and bowels. They all got better and eventually all got neutered( 1 girl 4 boys). That was a year and a half ago. I know what you must be thinking. Why did I keep them all? Well, I just got attached to them all that I just couldn’t even think about giving any of them away. Lucky for me, my husband feels the same. They are all healthy and beautiful and somewhat get along with my other 3 cats. So, that’s how I became the Crazy Cat Lady. I also have a dog, but I’ll talk about her later.
